Challenging the Legal System to Protect Constitutional Rights

Voter turnout in the 2022 midterm election far exceeded most people’s expectations. That’s due in no small part to the work of organizations like Public Rights Project (PRP), a Tides Center fiscally sponsored project. The organization’s fellowship program supported efforts to increase ballot access in Michigan, and their efforts paid off. The 2022 midterm election turnout in Michigan made history, with 4.45 million voters. In this candid interview, PRP founder Jill Habig shares how the erosion of core constitutional rights such as the right to abortion access inspired her to create the organization.

Celebrating Champions of Reproductive Justice: Tides’ 2022 Jane Bagley Lehman Award Winners Embody Powerful Social Change Leadership

Tides Foundation presented the 2022 Jane Bagley Lehman Award to five champions of reproductive justice including Rhiannon Carnes, co-executive director of Ohio Women’s Alliance, who work diligently at the intersection of reproductive justice and civic engagement. Believing the activism of one person can meaningfully shape significant social change, the foundation selected the winners based on nomination letters from their peers and those who embody the spirit and dedication of Jane Bagley Lehman, a founder of Tides Foundation and unconventional philanthropist.

Chief Impact Officer Anucha Browne provided the keynote address at the 2022 Women of Color (WOC) in Fundraising and Philanthropy symposium in New York City on November 16. WOC founder Yolanda F. Johnson led Browne in a conversation before an audience of women of color luminaries and thought-leaders serving in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector about ways they can live out their philanthropic vision and prioritize their own communities while centering support for women of color.
